Open to everyone
Education Swanage is committed to equality of access and opportunity, unbiased treatment and equal value of all individuals, irrespective of gender, ethnicity, social and economic background and circumstances, sexual orientation, physical or intellectual capability, nationality, religion or belief.
The Swanage School will become part of the normal school admissions process for Dorset County Council (see pdf policy document) and parents will be able to name the school as a preferred option. In that system parents are able to name three schools in order of preference and places will be allocated by the local authority.
All children will be welcome if we have space. If the school becomes oversubscribed, places will be allocated according to the standard priority order: children who have a statement of special educational needs; children living within the school’s catchment area; and children living outside the catchment area allocated on the basis of closeness of home to school (straight line measurement). Children who are in the care of the local authority can choose a school whether it is oversubscribed or not.
The admissions procedure and catchment area will be finalised in discussion with the local authority but our plan is to cover the natural service area of Swanage. This includes Swanage, Langton Matravers, Harman’s Cross, Kingston, Corfe Castle, Studland, Church Knowle, Steeple, Worth Matravers, Acton, Rempstone and Kimmeridge – any address entitled to a Swanage Town Council Resident’s Parking Permit.
Please note that anyone helping to set up the Swanage School must accept that they will not have any special priority in admissions arrangements.
