Why Do We Need A School?

When Swanage Middle School closes, Swanage will be the only town in Dorset with no secondary education and the only town in the UK having to send over 600 children 10 miles or more to school.

There are over 800 children aged 11-16 in Swanage and Langton and over 600 children already in the local secondary system. Even though parents will be free to opt for other schools, as they do now, we have enough children for a school and will continue to do so according to DCC projections.

We are convinced that a town the size of Swanage must be properly equipped to educate its children locally and not be obliged to transport them 10 miles daily to Wareham or further.
