Our Staff
Our staff will be led by Headteacher, Tristram Hobson. Mr Hobson comes to us from the highly successful St Edmund’s School in Salisbury, where he was Deputy Head. He brings with him a passion and commitment to outstanding teaching and learning in an ambitious, caring and inclusive school.
Our newly appointed Deputy Headteacher is Jenny Maraspin, currently Assistant Headteacher in charge of the quality of teaching and learning at the Leaf Academy in Bournemouth, which came top of the league table in Bournemouth for Value Added score, which shows how much progress students make. Miss Maraspin starts working with us full-time after Easter.
In line with the vision and ethos of The Swanage School we have recruited a team of outstanding, fully qualified teaching staff, eager to make their mark on a new and ambitious local school. Full details of all staff will be made available soon.
We want The Swanage School to be a pleasure to teach in and in addition to an attractive package of pay and conditions, we will provide support and encouragement for continual professional development.
The exciting opportunity to be involved in a human scale school with high aspirations in one of England's most beautiful coastal areas has attracted teachers dedicated to their students and passionate about their subjects.
Teaching Team

Aaron Brown: Curriculum Area Leader, main subject English
Aaron is currently Director of Learning at Ashdown Technology College, a comprehensive in Poole.
Audrey Lang: main subjects French and Spanish
Audrey is a French national, currently teaching at Mill Hill County High School, a comprehensive in London.
Dan Harris: main subject PE
Dan is currently at Balfron High School, a rural comprehensive in Scotland. Before teaching Dan had a successful career as Head of Sports Science at various football clubs including Celtic.
Hannah Clayton: main subject Science.
Hannah currently teaches GCSE and A Level sciences at the Leaf Academy Bournemouth, where she began her teaching career.
Jenny Maraspin: Deputy Headteacher, main subject Maths
Jenny is currently Head of Teaching and Learning at the Leaf Academy, Bournemouth. Jenny is an Advanced Skills Teacher for Maths, and starts working for The Swanage School full time after the Easter holiday.
Lisa Gray: Curriculum Area Leader, main subject History
Lisa is currently on maternity leave from her position as Head of Humanities at Bishop’s Hatfield Girls’ School, a comprehensive in Hertfordshire.
Rachel Milward: main subject Geography
Rachel is currently at The Gregg School, a small independent school in Southampton. Rachel is particularly excited by the geography found in our local area!
Tori Farren: main subjects Art and Design Technology
Tori is currently at Highcliffe School in Christchurch. Prior to teaching Tori worked in schools and galleries promoting art.
Tristram Hobson: Headteacher, main subject Maths
Tristram started full time at The Swanage School in November 2012. Before this he was Deputy Headteacher at St Edmund’s Girls’ School in Salisbury, a comprehensive school.
